Nintendo Entertainment System Set Revealed!

LEGO has officially unveiled a the new NES LEGO Set that is coming out on August 1st. I am really glad that LEGO is really going all out with their Super Mario theme. (Well, with the exception of the lack of normal Minifigures.) The set will retail for $229.99 in the United States, which isn't that bad of a price considering what is included with the set. It comes with a hefty 2,646 pieces, which is a really good value for the price. You can find it on the LEGO Store here.

You can see the set in action from this video that LEGO has put on their social media outlets. I think that the functionality of this is really cool. I think it would be amazing if someone rigged up some power functions stuff into this set. I think the compatibility with the preexisting Mario figure is really cool.

Here is the official description:

One last thing to note is the new Mario mold for this set. It is kinda an odd thing. I would have assumed LEGO would have printed the design for Mario on a clear 2x3 plate, but we got a very nice new mold instead!

I am personally not too into this set. I have never been a big Mario fan and the console of choice for me growing up was the Xbox. But I think that this is a very unique and cool set that we will probably not see another of. I think it would be cool to see other Nintendo consoles in brick form, such as the DS or the Wii. But I doubt they would ever get the functionality that this set has.
